Ardnakinna, Bere Island, Co. Cork, Ireland

In 1847 the Admiralty recommended that a beacon should mark the western entrance to Castletownbere. Constructed in 1850, it was capped in 1863 and lit two years later. The light sweeps across the famous Piper Rocks, which can be seen in the picture.

Ardnakinna stands 62 meters above high water and has a range of 17 nautical miles, flashing 2 white and 1 red every 10 seconds.
