Pt. Vincente Light
Palos Verdes, California
The 67 foot tower of Point Vincente was built in 1926, and it's third order
Fresnel lens remains active today. The million-candlepower light shines 20 miles
out to sea. Today the
tower and buildings are part of the Coast Guard station and
are off-limits to visitors. However, excellent views of the light can be seen from the
surrounding area. The view from the 100 foot cliffs is magnificent, with Catalina Island
visible in the distance. Recently the Coast Guard has opened the light station on the second
Saturday of each month, 9-4pm.
The light is reached from Palos Verdes Drive, east of Torrance just south of where Hawthorne
Blvd. intersects Palos Verdes.
